10 OSU Fundamentals According to a Sophomore

Okay, by Sophomore year, the unfamiliar is now the familiar and I am beginning to understand what tools I need to survive here. There are some things that you just have to learn by experience...

  1. Bike paths are perilous roads....pedestrians dare not tread on them for fear of losing their lives.
  2. Scheduling your first class of the day to coincide with your sleeping pattern is very important...8:30 a.m. classes suddenly seem like a very bad idea.
  3. Cowboy basketball is life.
  4. Life outside of the residence halls is worth experiencing.
  5. The word ‘free’ is music to the ears of any student.
  6. Going to bed before 1 a.m. is a waste of precious time.
  7. If you can’t buy it on meal plan or bursar, you probably won’t buy it.
  8. During finals week, the Student Union serves the best, free <<music to your ears>> pancakes with lots of bonus toppings.  It almost makes finals worth it…almost.
  9. High school is nothing more than a distance memory…tear.
  10. General education classes were invented by someone far more well-rounded than the average college student…special place in hell for that guy.
