10 OSU Fundamentals According to a Freshman |
|
|
It's only been two months since I packed up my room and waved goodbye to Mom and Dad. I may be just a freshman, but it doesn't take long to learn a few fundamental rules about OSU. Here are my top 10 tips for becoming a successful Cowboy:
- O-State takes homecoming very seriously!
- The only thing more serious than homecoming is BEDLAM
- Thursday night is a weekend night, rivaling any Friday or Saturday.
- Cramming is a sacred study method, practiced by all scholars.
- The Student Union is the center of everything: food, campus activities, the post office, the bookstore, the Bursar. You name it, it's there.
- Everyone (in the dorms) goes back home on away-football game weekends.
- The Daily O'Collegian crossword puzzles are impossible, and they get harder throughout the week.
- Naps are a forgotten bliss, resurrected from kindergarten.
- Campus sidewalks are a complex communication system. Some schools pay hundreds of dollars purchasing fancy marquis or kill thousands of trees making flyers. Cowboys simply play with chalk.
- Wear orange on Fridays. Everybody's doing it.
